Robert Henry Langdon

TERRE HAUTE — Robert Henry Langdon, 91 of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born August 22, 1920 in Plymouth, Indiana to James H. Langdon and Edna Freyman Langdon. Robert was a leading sales representative for DX and DA Lubricant companies from 1948-1983. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Klein Langdon.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael Langdon and his wife Casey of Cincinnati, Ohio and K. Patrick Langdon and his wife Renee of Friendswood, Texas; four granddaughters, Kelly and Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jessica and Rachel of Friendswood, Texas; a brother, Thomas Langdon and his wife Kay; a brother-in-law, Bob Jones; a sister-in-law, Betty Langdon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Nell Kern and her husband Charles and Sarah Jones; and two brothers, Patrick Langdon and William Langdon and his wife Jean.

Robert was a dedicated role model and was devoted to his family. When he was young he helped his father with his appliance business and his mother with her second hand store. Through these jobs he developed the skills of carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and served in the 325th Search Light Battalion for three and a half years where he was stationed on Okinawa, Japan. Robert was a graduate of Indiana University-Kelly School of Business and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He loved to play and watch golf and work in the yard.

A Memorial Mass of the celebration of his life will be conducted Friday, July 20, 2012 at 12:05 P.M. in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Edmund Goldbach, O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services Friday, July 20, 2012 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Soup Kitchen, 111 South 9th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
