Amy Marie Spivey

Farrmersburg — Amy Marie Spivey, 42, of Farmersburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1969, in Terre Haute, to Mary Ann Leusing Barnhart and Lloyd David Barnhart.

Amy is survived by her husband, Randy Spivey, whom she adored, they were married June 25, 1994; her parents, Joseph Carter, whom she referred to as “Papa Joe,” and Mary Ann Carter of Terre Haute; mother-in-law, Carolyn Chilton of Terre Haute; grandmother, Elizabeth Leusing of Terre Haute; brothers, Brent Barnhart, Brent’s son, Kyle Barnhart, and Kyle’s mother, Deanna Foxworthy, all of Terre Haute, Rick Carter and wife Kathy of Huntsville, Ala., and Joe Carter of Terre Haute; a sister, Diane Biddle and husband Cory of Terre Haute; her aunt, Margaret Leusing of Terre Haute; and uncle, John Leusing of Topak, Ariz.; cousin, Sheila Church; brother-in-law, Billy Spivey; sisters-in-law, Amy Bridwell and husband Dwayne, Jill Spivey and Sacha Chilton, all of Terre Haute; seven nieces and nephews, three great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Tammy Nally and her family, and Diane Hadley; Amy and Randy were married at Diane’s home.

Amy was employed at the Tribune-Star as an account executive, where she enjoyed a long and successful career. She was baptized in the Catholic church on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012. She loved her job. She adored her husband, loved her nephew, her beloved cat, Red, and her family. Amy was very social and enjoyed family gatherings. She also loved road trips and traveling with her husband. Amy excelled in everything she did in high school where she was on the High Honor Roll, was a member of Who’s Who among high school students, and Junior Achievement, working with Sony DADC while at North High School.  

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, IN, 47804, with visitation on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Father Ed Goldbach will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund to be set up at a later time at Old National Bank or mailed to Greiner Funeral Home, for her nephew Kyle Barnhart’s education.
