TERRE HAUTE — Naomi H. Rowings, 89, of Rushville, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Putnam County, to Albert Henderson and Laura Francis (Mottern) Spencer. Naomi graduated in 1940 from Greene Township High School in Parke County. She married her husband of 57 years on July 5, 1942. They resided in the South Bend area. She was a 4-H leader, Den Mother and member for 47 years of Progressive Homemakers Club. Naomi was an active associate member of DAR. Naomi was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in South Bend, the Sew and Sew Quilters, and a knitting group. She was a member of the Always Welcome club of Rush County for three years. Naomi’s greatest joy was her family.

Naomi is survived by her children, Margaret Louise (Rowings) Deutsch and her husband John of Rushville, and James Emerson Rowings Jr. and his wife LaDona of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Hilary (Alex) Kent, Adam Rowings, and Britta Rowings; a great-grandson, Nolan Kent; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; a brother, Robert H. Spencer; sister, Mary Katherine Stryker; and a half sister, Bertrell Spencer.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
