TERRE HAUTE —
Louise Virginia Nattkemper, 98, of St. Louis, MO, and formerly of Terre Haute died Saturday morning, August 4, 2012 in Barnes-Jewish Extended Care in St. Louis. She was a Realtor having worked for Pfister & Company for 33 years before retiring at the age of 85. She was born July 3, 1914, in New Castle, IN to Arthur G. Murray and Mary Lizzie Dixon Murray. She was married to Harold D. Nattkemper on August 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1972.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda York of St. Louis, MO and Mary Ann Burns and her husband, Graham, of Oakton, VA; five grandchildren, Chris Burns and his wife, Kristin, Katy Burns, Mike Burns and his fiancé, Heather Stebbins, Adam York and his wife, Vanessa, and Molly Carmichael and her husband, Steve; five great-grandchildren, Maddie Kempen, Grace Carmichael, Dan Carmichael, Aidan Burns and Cooper Burns; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and eleven brothers and sisters.
While working for Pfister & Company, Louise was frequently named Realtor of the Year, Salesperson of the Month and million-dollar sales person. She was the first woman president of the Terre Haute Board of Realtors in 1977 and was a member of the State Chapter of Women Realtors for many years. Active in the Terre Haute community she was a member of Altrusa International of Terre Haute, United Methodist Temple, Women’s Republican Club, Lost Creek Township Board and Honey Creek Garden Club. She was a strong supporter of Girl Scouts, YWCA and Glenn Civic Center girls basketball program.
Louise was a loving and dedicated mother to Linda and Mary Ann having been active in PTA and Girl Scouts. She was an accomplished seamstress and custom made many clothes, draperies, slipcovers and shirts for her husband and family. After retirement, Louise loved to travel both locally and abroad.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Steve Cain officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Alzheimers Association, 50 East 91st St., STE 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830 or to Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 2901 Ohio St., STE 153, Terre Haute, IN 47803-2239.
