COAL CITY — Joan M. Reagan, 96, of Coal City, passed away at the Waters of Greencastle, where she had been living for the past four years. She was born Jan. 8, 1916, the daughter of George E. Scheile and Alice Scheile. She married Howard Reagan Feb. 18, 1935, and he passed away in 2002. Together they owned an orchard and vegetable farm. Each year they had several loyal customers that would look forward to returning not only for the fruit and vegetables but also for the conversation.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Reagan; siblings, Earl, Willard, Clifford, and Susie; two sons, Ronald Reagan and Harold Lee Reagan; and a grandson, David Van Horn; and daughters-in-law, Sarah Reagan and Mary Reagan.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Jean Van Horn of Greenfield, Ind.; four grandchildren, Paula Roeschlein (Craig Stearns), Heidi Reagan (Daryl Andrews), Troy Reagan, and Erik Reagan; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as several extended family members.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth St., in Clay City, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 1 p.m.. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278. Visit www.schoppenhorstfuneralhome.com to light a candle in her memory.
