TERRE HAUTE — Gene (Butch) Horsley Jr., 57, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012. Butch, as he was known by friends, was born Feb. 26, 1955, in Terre Haute, to Gene Horsley Sr. and Wanda Bailey.

He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force. He was most recently employed by Sony DADC. He loved his animals, watching movies, and going to concerts. His favorite band was AC/DC. Most of all he loved to yard sale. He took much pleasure in finding treasures in others’ junk.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Rick Horsley.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Wanda Carpenter and Buzz; two sisters, Bonnie Robinson and her husband Rob, and Connie Kester and her husband Mike; three stepbrothers, Scott Carpenter and his wife Debbie, Mike Carpenter, and Kevin Carpenter; one sister-in-law, Nora Horsley; and nieces, Tina Eveland, Angel Cottrell, Ashley Kester, and Bailey Horsley; and niece, Abby Fields. He also is survived by a good friend, Tina Woodrum; and his loving cats, Lucy and Baby.

As were Gene’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A celebration of life will be at the American Legion Post 104 on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Terre Haute Humane Society. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., was entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at:
