BRAZIL — Mary Alice Himmichhoeffer R.N., 90, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Cloverleaf of Knightsville. She was born July 22, 1922, in Terre Haute, to Clarence Joseph and Zelda Beatrice Dunbar Himmichhoeffer. Mary graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1940, then attended St. Anthony Hospital’s school of Nursing before graduating in 1943. Mary never married and had children of her own, but she witnessed and cared for many who came into this world. After a few years working with newborns, she went to Chicago for some extended training in pediatric work, and then cared for older children. Her next and last nursing venture brought her to Clay County Hospital, in Brazil, in 1950, where she remained until 1984. She was a member of Annunciation Church in Brazil, as well as the Florence Nightingale Club and the Registered Nurses Club of Brazil.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a brother. David Joseph Himmichhoeffer; sisters, Florena (Leon) Anders, and Donna (Thomas) Kern; niece, Debbie Kern.

Survivors include sister, Alma (Thomas) Peirson of Danville, Ill.; seven nephews and four nieces.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Annunciation Church in Brazil, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Moore Funeral Home, in Brazil, with a rosary being said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at:
