Mildred Zigler

Mildred Zigler, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2012. She was born on April 4, 1926, in Terre Haute, to Ivor John and Dorothy Jane Davis. She married Kenneth Zigler Sr., on Oct. 31, 1945. Mildred was a 1944 graduate of Valley High School. She was a gifted poet. Mildred loved hand-crafts, especially sewing and quilting. She enjoyed going for long drives and stopping at yard sales. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious potato salad and her homemade buttermilk biscuits. Her favorite time of year was Christmas because she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Mildred was a member of the Wabash Valley Senior Citizens Club for 27 years. She had the unique ability to recite the alphabet forwards and backwards.

Mildred is survived by her son, Kenneth Zigler Jr., and his wife Pattey of Terre Haute; a daughter-in-law, Judy Zigler of Terre Haute, a son-in-law, Gary Smith of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Kenny Joe Zigler and his wife Misty, Dean Zigler and his wife Sue, Kyle Zigler, Dennis Wayne Zigler and his wife Amy, Bradley Zigler and his wife Janelle, Stacey Dowell and her husband Josh, Gary Smith Jr., and his wife Kim, and Kevin Smith and his wife Carmen; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Leroy Zigler and his wife Mary Lou; a sister-in-law, Mary Nidiffer; a special friend, Denzil Wilson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Zigler Sr.; a daughter, Carol Ann Smith; a son, Dennis Zigler Sr.; and a brother, Thomas John Davis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at:
