MARSHALL, ILL. —
MARSHALL, Ill. — Virgie M. Pearce, 93, of Marshall, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall. She was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Marshall, the daughter of Leary Murphy and Orpha May Martin Murphy. She married Milo O. Pearce and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2002.
Surviving are her children, Richard Pearce of Lincoln, Ill., Doris Kay Gard of Marshall, and James (Nancy) Pearce of Terre Haute, Ind.; grandchildren, Ginger Gard of Paris, Ill., Jay (Colleen) Gard of West Union, Ill., Gerri Lynn Lambert of Terre Haute, Ian (Shannon) Pearce of Lafayette, Ind., and Kyra (Joe) Burthay of Kokomo, Ind.; and nine great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Murphy.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall and Clark County Republican Women’s Club. She was 1936 graduate of Marshall High School and helped organize her class reunions for many years. For many years she was employed as a hostess and Ike’s and L&K Restaurants in Marshall.
Services in honor of her life will be 10:30 a.m. CDT Friday, June 15, 2012, at First Christian Church in Marshall, with Brother Stacey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, and also one-hour prior at the church on Friday.
