HINDSBORO, ILL. — HINDSBORO, Ill. — Carl John Cruse Jr., 68, of Hindsboro, Ill., passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill. John was born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Decatur, Ill. He was a son of Carl and Pauline (Willis) Cruse. He married Carol Ann Fitzjarrald of Marshall, Ill., on April 20, 1968, in Kansas, Ill.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Stephanie Ann Montgomery and her husband Sterling of Ramsey, Ill., and John David Cruse of Hindsboro, Ill.; two grandchildren, Megan Brianne and Dalton Charles Montgomery of Ramsey; one sister, Sue Daugherty and her husband Butch of Hindsboro; one brother, Edward Cruse of Manteno, Ill.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Galeener of Marshall; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Peggy Goekler of Marshall; three nieces and three nephews; 10 great-nieces and six great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Brian Scott Cruse.

John was a 1963 graduate of Oakland High School and retired from Cabot Corporation in Tuscola. He also spent several years as a member of the Hindsboro Volunteer Fire Department. John enjoyed restoring classic cards, listening to 50s and 60s oldies, remodeling projects, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. CDT Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., in Arcola, Ill. The Rev. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Burial will be in VanVoorhis Cemetery in Hindsboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
