TERRE HAUTE — Wilbur E. Prose Jr., 68, of Plainfield, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012. He was born Nov. 8, 1943, to the late Wilbur E. Sr. and Mae Pauline (Bain) Prose, in Terre Haute.

He graduated from Garfield High School in 1961, where he was actively involved in track and basketball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a former firefighter in Terre Haute and late became a system engineer for Lucent Technologies for 30 years retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Humbolt Masonic Lodge and American Legion both in Terre Haute. He also was a volunteer for IOPO. He loved taking pictures and was skilled at woodworking.

He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Carolyn A. (Hiatt) Prose; a son, Tom L. (Robin) Prose; a daughter, Annie M. Prose; a sister, Paula (Jim) Peo; and three grandchildren, Cody, Glenn and Gage Prose.

Funeral services for Wilbur “Wil” will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw St., in Plainfield, where friends may call on Sunday, June 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. Burial, Greenlawn Cemetery, Darlington, Ind. Contributions my be made to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO).
