TERRE HAUTE —
Carol Ann (Mason) Scott, of West Terre Haute, passed away in her residence, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. Carol fought a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.
Carol was born in Terre Haute on Jan. 3, 1950, to Herbert A. and Florence (Dhom) Mason. She grew up at Southlake Beach, the family business, in West Terre Haute. She was a 1967 graduate of West Vigo High School and continued her education, graduating with a degree from Indiana State University. She entered the private social work field and touched the lives of numerous colleagues, residents and families working for local health and rehabilitation centers, most recently at Kindred-Southwood in Terre Haute.
Carol will fondly be remembered for her loving devotion to family, genuine personality, beautiful smile and spirit. She loved gardening, camping, reading and being with her family. She also loved walking, especially around the family lake property where her walks were frequently interrupted by locating choice Indian beads and unusual rocks. She devoted much time to her five grandchildren, Kane, Korbin, Jackson, Reeve and Evelyn, and adored every one of them.
She also is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 32 years, Terry; children, Brian (Jennifer) Stockwell, Heather (Randall) Monroe, Adam and Jason (Michelle); five grandchildren; mother, Florence; siblings, Herb (Laura), John, Jean (Norman) Cottrell, Steve; sister-in-law, Nancy. She also left behind other family members and countless friends who were blessed to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert A.; and brother, Robert.
Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St. ,in West Terre Haute. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at 1 p.m.
