TERRE HAUTE — Betty Mae Sanders Johnson, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Aug. 19, 2012, at Union Hospital. She was born May 17, 1931, to Roscoe and Bertha Sanders, in Fontanet.

She was owner and operator of The Casey Theaters. She enjoyed scrapbooking and gardening. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church.

She was married to Robert L. Johnson, who preceded her in death. They exchanged vows in 1950, and they were married for 44 years. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hazel Roe and Doris Sanders; and three brothers, Ralph Sanders, Jesse Sanders and James Sanders.

She is survived by a daughter, Lori Burns and husband Steven; sons, Steve and wife Jackie Johnson, and Bob and wife Vickie Johnson; one sister, Garnet Frye; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jacob, Justin, Jeremy, Michelle, Christina, Kaitlin, Austin, Lauren, Alyssa, and Courtney; and a great-grandson due in September.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m., at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette St., with visitation Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Herb Burial is at Highland Lawn Cemetery.
