Dolores Janet Dowell, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:40 p.m on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, with her loving family by her side at Davis Gardens Health Center. She was born on July 30, 1930, to Donald Davis and Carrie (McCammon) Davis. Dolores married her husband, William R. Dowell, on Aug. 15, 1948. She was a member of the Prairie Creek Home Economics Club and Senior Friends. Dolores was a member of Oregon Baptist Church. She liked to embroider, spoil her grandchildren, and cook Sunday dinner for her family. The family would like to thank Davis Gardens and Vista Care for their services.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, William R. Dowell; sister, Darlene Crandall; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Dowell. She is survived by sons, William R. Dowell II and wife Laura, Ronald Dowell, and Timothy Dowell; daughter, Michele Hazelrigg and her husband Brian; sisters, Beverly Sayles and Terry Bilyeu; brother, Donald Davis; grandchildren, Steven Dowell, Kelly Stout, Sarah Tindal, Shane Dowell, Austin Dowell, Erin Hazelrigg, and Emily Hazelrigg; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Jake, Shelby, Preston, Maddox, Evan, and Ava.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor David Wickens will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 23, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday before services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vista Care. Online condolences can be made at:
