Robert Curry

FARMERSBURG — Robert “Bob” Curry, 86, of Farmersburg, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, peacefully at his residence. He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Sullivan, to Clifford and Audry Myrle (Benette) Curry. Bob was a 1944 graduate of Farmersburg High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a farmer and retired from Sears. He was a member of the Shelburn American Legion Post, where he enjoyed sitting and visiting with friends. In his younger years he was an avid boater and fisherman. He loved camping and playing cards, but what he enjoyed most was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow everyday. He will be greatly missed by all. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Marguerette (Duling) Curry, whom he married Dec. 12, 1946; his son, Jim Curry; a brother, Keith Curry; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors are his daughters, Tammy (Rick) Jewett of Farmersburg, and Diana Curry of Terre Haute; a son, Mike (Anitta) Lockhart of Alaska; six grandchildren, Brian Curry, Teri Curry, Chris Daves, Jamie (Jewett) Phegley, Scott Lockhart, and Robin Lockhart. He had 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be a Westlawn Cemetery Chapel, in Farmersburg, on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, with Pastor Nathan Bargo officiating. Services will be held at 1 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. until services. Graveside military rites will be given by the Shelburn, Hymera and Sullivan American Legion posts. Services were entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel. If friends so desire to send flowers the family ask that their donations go to VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
