SULLIVAN — SULLIVAN — Marjorie Courtney, 78, of Sullivan, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan. She was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in Fairbanks, Ind., the daughter of Guy and Agnes (Cushman) Phillips. Marjorie graduated from high school and worked as the department head and sales clerk at Root’s Department Store. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Sullivan, and the Alpha Delphian Club.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wilbur, Durward, John T., and Lawrence Phillips; and two sisters, Aleana Fitzgerald and Theta E. Nowlin.

Survivors include her son, Scot Andrew (Angela) Courtney of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren, Grant Courtney and Keenan Courtney.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, 400 N. Court St., in Sullivan, with the Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery located in Sullivan, with Pastor Larry Kimmell to officiate the committal service. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Sullivan or the American Heart Association.
