Jack A. Turner, 61, of West Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly at 11:07 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was the warehouse supervisor for Freitag-Weinhardt Inc., in Terre Haute, where he had been employed for 34 years. He was born March 20, 1951, in Terre Haute, to Hubert A. Turner and Frances Pantle Turner.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Turner, whom he married on Dec. 17, 1971, in Terre Haute; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tammi Turner of West Terre Haute; his daughter, Mandee Turner of Terre Haute; his mother-in-law, Anna Ruth Lydick of West Terre Haute; his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Jacob and Emily Turner and Madelyn Callahan; three brothers, Jim Bennett and his wife Susie, Steve Turner and his wife Georgia, and Don Turner; two sisters, Sharon Burson and her husband Vic, and Lori Miller and her husband Tom; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Claudia Lydick, Jim and Liz Lydick, Jack and Cindy Lydick; three aunts, Evadene Crumrin and her husband Dale, Jean Pantle, and Josephine Nickless; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Terre Haute; a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves of which he served 14 years; and he had been a coach for several years and past president of the West Terre Haute Little League. Jack’s time was centered around his family especially his grandchildren, attending ballgames and any event that they were a part of.

Jack’s funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute, with Father Bernie LaMontagne officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday. The family kindly suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Terre Haute Catholic Charities with envelopes available in the funeral home.
