Jerry Edward Hill

TERRE HAUTE — Jerry Edward Hill, 74, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:19 p.m. on May 16, 2012.  He was born in Brazil, on Dec. 24, 1937, to Oral and Naomi (Smith) Hill. He was a member of North Campus Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church (Northside United Methodist Church). Jerry participated in the Special Olympics and was proud that he had won many medals. He enjoyed riding bikes, bowling, music and dancing.  He also enjoyed late night TV, and had an unbelievable memory when it came to TV shows and movie stars. Jerry was a gentle soul, who very much enjoyed being an Uncle. He was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them all at family dinners and birthday parties.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rosemary Mason. He is survived by brother, John Hill, his wife Sonnie; sister, Shirley Drake; nieces and nephews, Ronald Drake, his wife Jolene, Richard Drake, Robert Drake, his wife Brenda, Kevin Hill, his wife Michelle, Karen Branam, her husband Joe, and Kathy Shaffer and her husband Brian; great-nieces and nephews, Jessica Gallion, Brookelyn Young, Brittney Drake, Zachary Drake, Caleb Drake, Ben Drake, Alec Drake, Kylie Hill, Kaitlyn Hill, Taylor Branam, Madison Shaffer, McKenna Hill, and Clayton Shaffer; great-great-niece and nephew, Sophia Young and Elijah Drake; and his adopted family at Normal Life of Terre Haute, where he was the recipient of a lot of love and care for over 20 years.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Callahan-Debaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. Pastor Aaron Wheaton will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 9 a.m. until service time.
