TERRE HAUTE — Angel M. Vargas, 23, of Terre Haute, died Friday, July 20, 2012, in Terre Haute, from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT today at Cotter Funeral Home, in Momence, Ill. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial, with military rites, will be in Union Corners Cemetery, in Grant Park.

He had worked construction and was a mental health technician at Harsha Behavorial Center, in Terre Haute. He was born Jan. 29, 1989, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Pamela A. Hibbs Vargas. He was a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He had attended Grace Baptist Church in Kankakee, Ill., and graduated with honors from North Central High School in Farmersburg.

Surviving are his mother, of Kankakee; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Melissa and Bobby Hearth of Bloomington, Ind., Carolyn Vargas of Sullivan, Ind., and Rose Vargas of Kankakee; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Joe and Heather DeYoung of Kansas City, Kans., Michael DeYoung of Wilmington, Ill., and Adam Vargas of Joliet; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Michael Blakeney.
