ROCKVILLE — ROCKVILLE — Harold Summerville, 88, of Rockville, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at The Waters of Covington. He was born March 11, 1924, in Vincennes, to Everett Summerville and Nettie Newton Summerville. He married Ruth Murphy; she passed away July 23, 1993.

Survivors include one daughter, Rene Jacobson (Marcus) of Covington; granddaughter, Amanda Harvey (Andy) of Nashville; grandson, Tony Jacobson (Laura) of Oakwood, Ill.; two stepgrandsons, Brian Jacobson (Kelly) of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Daniel Jacobson of Del Rio, Texas; and three sisters, Frieda Lessing of Dana, Jean Albrecht of Maple Grove, Minn., and Doris Plymentosh of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife; and two brothers, Carl and Jim Summerville.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving as a tail gunner during World War II. He retired from Jacks Motors where he was the parts manager. He was a graduate of Bicknell High School.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 2471, Parke Lodge 8 Free & Accepted Masons, American Legion Post 48, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1752.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, with Kevin Jacks officiating. Burial is at Memory Garden Cemetery, with graveside military rites. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parke County Community Foundation, PO Box 276, Rockville, IN, 47872.
