TERRE HAUTE — Barbara A. Roberts, 77, of Terre Haute and formerly of Noblesville, died Feb. 3, 2012, at Southwood Nursing Home, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Barbara was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Sept. 15, 1934, the daughter of Wilfred H. and Mary A. (Whitson) Hearst. She was a retired registered nurse from Riverview Hospital, in Noblesville, after 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading, bowling, crossword puzzles, watching her kid's sporting events and her grandchildren. She was the coach of her daughters winning softball team, loved Indiana University basketball, Chicago Cubs baseball, and had a great sense of humor. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by daughters, Tracy Roberts-Shirazi, Susan Roberts, Robin Robertson, Joani (Dallas) Kelsey, Kerry (Larry) Simmons and Carole Coyer; grandchildren, Sarrah, Royah, Leilah, Mariah, Ariah, Cory, Sam, Justin, Hannah, Gabrielle, Danielle, Jordan, Connor and Braden; a great-grandchild, Kalina Melody Crawford; brother, Edward (Claire) Hearst; and sister, Doris( Chris) Gallo.

A Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at The Journey Christian Fellowship Church, 1313 Lafayette Ave., with the Rev. Ric May officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services, and there will be a fellowship meal immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VistaCare Hospice, 3401 S. 4th St., Terre Haute, IN, 47802; or the Barbara A. Roberts Memorial Library Fund c/o Terre Haute Savings Bank, 4729 U.S. Highway 41 South, Terre Haute, IN 47802. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials.
