FARMERSBURG — Frieda L. Laffoon, 84, of rural Farmersburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Union Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute, on Aug. 3, 1928, to John Heck and Ermel (McCoskey) Heck Collier, who have preceded her in death.

She and her husband John Laffoon were married on March 22, 1947, and prior to his death they owned Laffoon's Lounge Farmersburg. John preceded her on Feb. 12, 1995. She is survived by her sons, Steve Laffoon and his wife Linda, Martin (Marty) Laffoon, and Russell (Rusty) Laffoon. Another son, Brady Laffoon, preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2012. She has a daughter, Becky Smith and her husband Warren; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Laffoon. There are 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacy Ann Watson in 1999; and two sisters, Norma Bramble and Annabelle Shaw.

Her celebration of life will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 2 p.m. March 16, 2013, with her nephew the Rev. Dirk Shaw officiating. Friends may call from noon until service time. Keeping with her wishes private burial will be in Prairie Creek West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages to attend a blood drive in her memory that is being hosted by Care One, formerly Vibrant Home Care, 1208 E. Canvasback Drive, across from the south Walmart location, on March 20, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com. The family wants to send many thanks to Vibrant Health Care/Care One for the highest quality health care and assistance. Also a thank you goes out to Dr. Kunnapareddy and his staff along with the caring people with Help at Home.
