TERRE HAUTE — Arthur Dale “Bear Creek” Gregg, 91, of Rosedale, died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. He was a retired coal miner and was a hydraulic maintenance man for Alcan Aluminum of Terre Haute. He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Montgomery County, Ind., to the late Alonzo Gregg and Catherine Woodworth Gregg. He was a graduate of Bellmore High School.

His wife of 56 years, Velna “Velma” Vaught Gregg, whom he married June 14, 1942, died July 22, 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Larry D. Gregg of Seymour, William J. Gregg of Terre Haute, and Steven R. Gregg of West Terre Haute; three daughters, Thelma M. Payton of Rapid City, S.D., Lillie I. Harney of Rockville, and Glenda M. Davidson of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Richard Gregg of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Benjamin Warren Gregg of Indianapolis; three sisters, Betty L. Scott of Bourbonnais, Ill., Rosalie M. May of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Nancy Lakeness of Muncie; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Jean Gregg and Linda K. Gregg.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, in Rosedale. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9135 N.
