TERRE HAUTE —
Melanie Ann Iocoangeli, age 56, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend went to home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her residence in Terre Haute, Ind. Melanie was born in Erie, Pa., the daughter of Joseph Prescott and Marion (Weigler) Prescott. She graduated from Westminister High School in 1973.
Melanie then fell in love and married her soul mate and best friend, Gary Iocoangeli on Nov. 15, 1974. They were blessed with three children and countless memories. After moving from California to Terre Haute in 1989, Melanie found her calling as a daycare provider and soon after opened up her business, Auntie Mel’s Daycare that she owned and operated for 18 years. She proudly and passionately taught and helped raise countless children throughout her career. Melanie was always the life of the party and was the most loyal, thoughtful and kind hearted person anyone could know. She was a caring and devoted wife, a loving mother, and an amazing grandmother. She was our best friend and will be forever missed.
Melanie leaves behind her husband, Gary; loving children, Jennifer and husband Paul Stevens, David Iocoangeli and fiancé Alicia Slaven, and Katie Iocoangeli. She was the proud and adoring grandma of Elise Iocoangeli, Kaydence Eversole and Gage Eversole. Melanie also is survived by her mother, Marion Prescott; her brother, Jack and wife Dawnell Prescott; her sister, Melissa and husband Robert Wilkinson; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Prescott; father-in-law, Alex Iocoangeli; and in-laws, Timothy Iocoangeli, Kim and husband Dan Parkhurst, Kateri and husband John Owens, and Alan Iocoangeli.
Melanie was welcomed home to heaven by her father, Joseph Prescott; her brothers, Jim Prescott and Bill Prescott; and her mother-in-law, Barbara Miller.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, from 5 p.m. until Melanie’s memorial ceremony at 6 p.m., at Foursquare Gospel Church, 800 N. 13th St., in Terre Haute. In memory of Melanie, memorial contributions may be directed to Foursquare Gospel Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation www.jdrf.com.
