TERRE HAUTE — Daniel M. Spiegel, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 5:08 p.m., in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Terre Haute, to Daniel M. Spiegel and Dorothy Biggs Spiegel.

Daniel served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked at Shanks Motor Company and Terre Haute Auto Plex before retiring from car sales. Daniel was a member of American Legion Post 346, AmVet, Kentucky Colonel, and Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lyle Dorsett.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Jackie Troutt Spiegel, whom he married May 30, 2008; sons, Dean Spiegel of Indianapolis, and John Paul Spiegel and wife Susan of Gas City; daughters, Pamela Craig and husband Tony of Indianapolis, and Terrie Spiegel of Indianapolis; stepsons, Joshua Houle and wife Kayla of Marshall, Ill., and Nathaniel Houle of Terre Haute; stepdaughters, Jamie Houle of North Vernon, and Ciera Houle of Fort Wayne; sisters, Barbara Schwinn of Carmel, and Marcia Morton and husband Dr. Berry Morton of Denver; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Freckles and Jada.

In honor of Daniel's wishes cremation has been chosen with no services. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at: www.greinerfuneralhome.com
