Shawn Singhurse Spitler, 50, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:35 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in her residence. She was born on Oct. 25, 2012, to Rennis Lynn Singhurse and Joan (Hughes) Singhurse.
Shawn attended and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She also was an 18-year cancer survivor. Shawn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loving friend to many.
Shawn is survived by her parents, Rennis Lynn Singhurse and Joan (Hughes) Singhurse; husband of 29 years, Robert E. Spitler II; sons, Pastor Dustin Spitler and his wife Katie, and Shane Spitler; grandchildren, Clara Sue, Jack, and Nora Lynn; brother, Kim Singhurse and his wife RoAnn; sister, Ann Becraft and her husband Bob; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 4075 East Harlan Drive. Her son Pastor Dustin Spitler and the Rev. Jeff Lee will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church, today, Sept. 13, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. The family has entrusted DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with making arrangements. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Terre Haute First Financial Bank Shawn Spitler Memorial Fund, or American Cancer Society.
