Jack Anthony Sitarski

TERRE HAUTE — Jack Anthony Sitarski, 86, of Terre Haute, died Monday, February 18, 2013 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born January 1, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Joseph H. Sitarski and Augusta Dapke Sitarski. Jack was a florist and owner of Poplar Flower Shop.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, June P. Randolph Sitarski; two sons, Jack A. Sitarski II and his wife Deborah and James P. Sitarski and his wife Julie, both of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Violet Barnes of Pinellas Park, FL; three grandchildren, Katrina Ann Sitarski Poe and her husband Billy of Austin, TX, John Patrick Sitarski of Terre Haute, and Joseph Anthony Sitarski and his wife Brooke of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Ian Poe and Jacob Anthony Sitarski; one stepgreat-grandchild, Noah Guess; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.    

Jack was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Englewood, FL, a Life Member of the Mother Theodore Council # 541 Knights of Columbus where he was a Fourth Degree, a Life Member of American Legion Post # 346, a Life Member of V.F.W. Post # 972, a Life Member of the Sycamore Country Club, and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks in Englewood, FL. Jack served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Washington BB-56 from April 1944 until June 1946 mostly in the Pacific Theatre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Joe Villa and Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post # 346. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 with a rosary service at 7 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.  Funeral information is also available at:
