TERRE HAUTE — Georgia Rose Hires, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on July 8, 1930, in Vigo County, to George and Edna Rose (Hart) Myers. She married Walter E. Hires on Feb. 2, 1952, and together they raised five children. Georgia was a 1949 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. She worked at Ann Page (Quaker Maid), packing olives. She was an avid couponer. She enjoyed gardening and watching the hummingbirds. She was a fan of Elvis. Most of all, Georgia enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Georgia will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.

Georgia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter; their children, Delania (Bill) Siebenmorgan, Gloria Hall, Walter E. (Debbie) Hires II, Frank (Andrea) Hires, and Sharon (Frank) Deardurff, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ralph) McGranahan, Laura (Steve) Eddleman, Erin Hall, Jared (Emilee) Alsman, Misty Marr, Nissa (Louis) Bigler-Loyola, Jessica (Brian) McBride, Luke Bigler, Tessa Bigler, Kellianne (Kyle) Alford, Jessica (Dustin) Lambert, Brittany (Sean) Feeney, David Hires, and Robert (Kelly) Baugh; many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Doris Myers; special friend, Barbara Miller; and a sister-in-law; Georgia Icenogle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Nicholas Brian Hires; brother, William Myers; and sister-in-law, Virginia Rolison Myers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Friday at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be at noon on Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Craig Wininger officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Online condolences may be made at:
