Robert ‘Bob’ Lawson

TERRE HAUTE — Bob Lawson, 63, of Terre Haute, went home to heaven to live eternally with Jesus and many family member on Feb. 8, 2013, with his loving cat “Gretta” by his side. Bob was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Terre Haute to Gail and Doyne (Poff) Lawson.

He graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and worked many years at the hospital in Clinton. He loved sports of any kind, traveling and spending time with his family. He was such an extra special blessing to his family, and we loved spending time with him. We had many wonderful times together at ballgames, race car events, concerts and spending summer on the beaches of Florida and North Carolina. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Surviving his memory are two brothers, Bill Lawson and his wife Jane of Sullivan, and Jim Lawson and his wife Dianna of Clinton; two sisters, Janice Brown and her husband Mike, and Peggi Wiegand Landry and her husband Bud, all of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Mike, Andrea, Shannon, Gayla, Scott, Rolla, Kim, Starla, Donna, Kay, Brenda, Doug, Greg, Mike, Steven, Jason and Eric, whom he was very close to and treated like a son.

The family takes great comfort in knowing that Bob had accepted the Lord as his Savior and talked often of how he couldn’t wait to be with him someday. Bob loved going to Saint Joseph Church in Terre Haute and attending Sunday evening Mass. Now he is joined in heaven with his Lord; mother and father; grandmothers, Jesse Lawson and Eva Poff; his brother, Don Lawson; and his very special brother-in-law and friend, Cork Wiegand; as well as a great-nephew, Mitch.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, a private memorial service for family will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of his sister Peggi, with Pastor Tim Voll officiating. Any condolences from friends would be appreciated and may be sent to 3100 N. 14th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804. Cremation has been chosen, and Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804, has been entrusted with arrangements.
