BRAZIL —
Chad E. Gehle, 27 of Brazil, died following a tragic automobile accident Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Muncie. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he later died. His brother was also in the accident and is currently in the Muncie hospital.
Chad was born Feb. 15, 1985, in Clay County, the son of Victor Gehle and Duquata “Dee” Lints. He attended Northview High School and later obtained his GED. He worked first for Hoosier Hand-Pac in Terre Haute and then for Cook Lumber in Reelsville. He was currently employed with Kamps Pallett Company as a supervisor at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.
When he was a young boy, he developed the idea for a board game he called “Legends.” He has played Legends with a core group of friends every Friday night for at least the past 10 years. The game has evolved and been perfected over the years, and it was a unique part of Chad’s life.
Several years ago, Chad became a part of Christ Community Church. He has helped with youth programs, driven the church bus to transport those in need and has worked on out-reach ministry with Jenni Ooley. He took pride in being a Christian and wanted to help anyone in need. He challenged himself to be the hands and feet of Jesus here in our community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Gehle; grandfather, Edward Lints; and uncles, Bob Headley and Allen Lints.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Duquata “Dee” Rankin and Samuel Rankin of Brazil; grandmother, Elizabeth Lints; brothers and sisters, Shawn Marcum (Angie) of Gosport, Billy Gehle of Newcastle, Nicki Sickles (Kenneth) of Terre Haute, Carla Jarrett (Billroy) of Indianapolis, and Amanda Blakely (Chris) of Indianapolis; aunts, Bernice Headley, Brenda Byers and Joyce Thompson; uncle Calvin Lints; “Legend” friends, Kyle, David, Jason S., Jason G., Dustin, Steve, Sarah, Kenny, Corey, Catlin and a host of other friends. Chad was an awesome uncle to Brittany, Jade, Becky, Rachel, Ana, Katie, Allison, Billy, Brooke, Travis, Taylor, Lexi, Leah and Mia.
Services will be held Tuesday at Christ Community Church at 1 p.m., with Pastor Rich Laskowski officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Donations may be made in his honor to the Church. Light a candle in his memory at:
