BLOOMINGTON — Larry D. Bottorff, 73, of Bloomington, passed away at IU Health-Bloomington Hospice House on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.
Larry was born in Washington County, Indiana on Sept. 9, 1939. He was the son of Burl and Anna (Hampton) Bottorff. On Nov. 28, 1958, he married Eva (Smith) Bottorff. Larry was a heavy equipment operator for several companies and helped to build many roads in Indiana and surrounding states. He was an active member of the Operating Engineers Union No. 841 and of the New Hope Christian Church, in Salem. Larry was passionate about classic cars and shared this passion as a member of the Cruising Classics Car Club. He restored his own 1959 Pontiac convertible and his 1952 Ford pickup truck and enjoyed sharing these with his family. He was a fan of NASCAR, golf and Hoosiers basketball. He was a member of the Bloomington Masonic Lodge No. 22. Larry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Wingler; and grandson, Whitney Bottorff.
Larry is survived by his wife, Eva Bottorff of Bloomington; sons, Kevin Bottorff (Katrina) of Palatka, Fla., and Chris Bottorff (Stacy) of Bloomington; grandchildren, Shane Bottorff (Kimberly), Ashley Bottorff, Grant Bottorff (Brittany), Caitlyn Warner (Chris), and Grace Bottorff; great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jocelyn and Hayden Bottorff and Emma Warner; sisters, Delmont Strange of Brownsburg, and Eileen Elliott of Salem, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Chandler Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Smale officiating. Burial is to follow at Methodist Cemetery.
