Mary Helen Klueh, 83, of West Terre Haute, passed away 9:31 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Cannon Inn at Terre Haute. She was born June 17, 1929, in Terre Haute, to Omer Levi Byrer and Bessie D. Greathouse Byrer. Her husband, Leon A. Klueh, whom she married in December of 1950 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, preceded her in death on May 24, 1910.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David James of West Terre Haute; two sons, Kevin Klueh of Indianapolis, and Kenneth Klueh of West Terre Haute; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and Ernie Forster of West Terre Haute; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Omer “Bud” and Sherri Byrer of Terre Haute, and Jim and Joyce Byrer of Bloomington, Ind.; two grandchildren, Chris James and his wife Lili of Terre Haute, and Rebecca James of West Terre Haute; a great-granddaughter, Amy James; and many much loved nieces and nephews including, Peggy McCarty, Kayla McCarty, and Jana Strain. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Darlene Chapman.

Mary received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in 1950. She was a member of St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and she enjoyed gardening and reading extensively to the point that she was one of the best customers at the West Terre Haute Library, where they often set new books aside for Mary to read first.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Village Church with Father Bernard Head officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday in the church. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute, assisted with arrangements.
