Shirley J. Haase Moody, 81, of Terre Haute died Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born October 5, 1931 in Burnett, IN to Carson Haase and Venda Judson Haase.
She is survived by her husband, Alex Moody, whom she married September 4, 1953; two daughters, Anita Greasor and her husband Charles and Linda Moody; three grandchildren, Bryan Greasor and his wife Stacy, Stephen Greasor and his fiancee’ Anastassia Ignatieff, and Megan Greasor; brother-in-law, George Cottom; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father in 1975; her mother in 1934; and her sister, Beverly Cottom in 2005.
Shirley was employed for many years by Indiana State University School of Education and Purdue University. She was a member of World Gospel Church, Colonial Dames XVII Century and served as their registrar for many years, Indiana State University Women’s Association, The Pilgrim Edward Doty Society and for more than 30 years she was a charter member of the Candle Lighter’s Homemakers Club. Shirley was active for many years with the March of Dimes and served as the county chairperson for a time. She was active in working with genealogy and wrote a family history on the Haase’s, co-authored a history of the Judson family and assisted in writing a book on the Doty family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Pastor Alfy Austin officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation or the Charity of Your Choice.
