John Kuss Crowley, 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013. He was surrounded by his family. He was born on Christmas Eve, 1927, to Anna Kuss Crowley and William Timothy Crowley who preceded him in death. He was their 11th and youngest child. John was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, and a member of Local 157 Plumbers and Steamfitters. Upon his retirement, he worked for the City of Terre Haute’s Building Inspections office.
John also is preceded in death by his loving wife, Madonna Rose (Drisko) Crowley, whom he married Nov. 8, 1952; his sisters, Mary Agnes Dragon, Gertrude Dragon, Martha Boyke, and Rose Schaffer; and his brothers, Albert Earl Crowley, James Neal Crowley, William Crowley Jr., and George Crowley. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy LeBrun and Juanita Luken; his daughters, Rhonda Rose Fulford, Joan Kathleen Lacey, and Susan Lynne Thompson and husband Brad Thompson; his sons, John Kuss Crowley Jr. and wife Diana, and Brian Matthew Crowley; grandchildren, Sarah Brook Fink and husband David, Joseph Ryan Crowley Fulford, Christopher Justin Lacey, Stephanie Nichole Isle and husband James, Michael Ray Lacey, John Kuss Crowley III and wife Holly, Madonna Rose Fulford, twins Thomas and Tiffany Crowley, Alan Ross Huffman, Eli Thompson, Joshua Crowley, Carrick Crowley, and Cory Lee Thompson; great-grandchildren, Trent, Chloe, and Arie Isle, Keiran, Kamden, and Khloe Fulford, Liam and Miah Short, Nakota and John Kuss Crowley IV, Bryson Bridges Huffman and Jackson Ryder Fink; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was a man of strong conviction and believed in prayer.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Villa officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars 972. Calling will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and also at the church beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday. A rosary service will end the visitation at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
