Mary Emma Voll

TERRE HAUTE — Mary Emma Voll, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Vigo County on June 25, 1930, the daughter of the late William and Rose (Kehoe) Head. She was united in marriage on Feb. 9, 1949, to Ralph E. Voll, who preceded her in death in 1997. Mary attended Garfield High School with the class of 1949. She worked for several years with Catholic Charities of Terre Haute, Compton’s Cleaners and also spent several years assisting as a teacher’s aide at Deming Elementary. Her kind, compassionate and considerate nature will not soon be forgotten.

Mary was a woman who would always help another person in need. She deeply loved her entire family and friends. In Mary’s free time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, writing poems and singing. Her perseverance, determination and strong will enabled her to overcome breast cancer, and any other obstacle in life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.

Mary leaves behind her devoted children, Patricia L. Patterson and husband Greg, Randall E. Voll and wife Maureen, and Kathleen J. Mutchler, all of Terre Haute; along with her daughter-in-law, Cynthia L. Voll. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was welcomed home to heaven by her son, William “Mike” Voll; daughter, Candace “Candy” D. Poff; grandchildren, James Michael Voll, William Michael Voll and Jamie Dianne Voll; and her siblings, Esther “Sis” Cordell, Floyd Head, Elizabeth “Betty” Shassere, William “Billy” Head and Anna Grayless.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Mary’s funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Voll, of Pimento United Methodist Church, will officiate, with private interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The entire family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mary’s daughter, Kathleen Mutchler; granddaughter, Breanna Mutchler; great-granddaughter, Sevena Coffman and grandson, Clarid Mutchler for the compassionate care provided to Mary. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to Catholic Charities Terre Haute or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at:
