TERRE HAUTE —
Elmer Louis “Louie” Corbin, 81, of Cadiz, Ky., and formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in Grace Health Care Center in Clarksville, Tenn. He was born May 24, 1931, in West Terre Haute, to Walter Wesley Corbin and Louise Cheshire Corbin.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Short Corbin; three daughters, Pam Thompson and her companion Kurt McQuery, Debra Stuck and her husband Bob, and Susan Hill-Mellott and her husband Mike; two stepdaughters, Jane Ann Cozart and Donna Hardesty; a stepson, Howard Farrand; two sisters, Patt Welsh and Shirley McBroom; a sister-in-law, Pam Corbin; several grandchildren; and nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Gene, Bert, Jim, John, and Archie Corbin; and one sister, Virginia Corbin.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended the Hurricane Baptist Church in Cadiz. He loved to fish, and hunt, and he also enjoyed playing several musical instruments being the banjo, mandolin, and dobro.
Graveside services for Louie will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Bethesda Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Wimberly officiating and military graveside rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, West Terre Haute, assisted with arrangements.
