TERRE HAUTE —
Arthur Eugene Seeling, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Terre Haute Regional Hospital at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. He was born on May 6, 1927, to William and Sophia (Schwartz) Seeling. Arthur was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married his wife Joyce V. (Semeniuk) Seeling on Jan. 17, 1948. Together they had two sons, George and Mark Seeling. Arthur retired from Terre Haute City Fire Department as a captain after 30 years of service. He served at Station 9, which is now a museum. He attended Good Shepard Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 972 and American Legion 104. After retirement, Arthur worked at DeBaun Funeral Home for almost 10 years.
Arthur is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Joyce V. Seeling; his sons, George and his wife Sandra, and Mark; grandchildren, Jon, Julie, Buster, and Patrick; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Emily, Mollie, Kasey, Caroline, and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, Charles, Harold, Maurice, Margaret, and Doris.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at 10 a.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with Pastor Manbeck officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
