Mary Belle ‘Doy’ Wilson

PARIS, IL — Mary Belle “Doy” Wilson, 93, of Paris, passed away at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Paris Healthcare Center.

She was a 1938 graduate of Paris High School. Mrs. Wilson was a secretary at the A.S.C.S. office and also was employed by West Side Variety Store, Godding Shoe Factory, Ben Franklin Store and U.O. Colson & Company. She was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary and the former Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mary Belle was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Logan, Ill., to the late James and Florence (Scott) Payne. She married Elmer W. “Woody” Wilson, June 5, 1938, in Paris, and he passed away June 10, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Jean “Jeanie” Coonce, and her husband, Donald, of Paris; a son, Jack A. Wilson of Paris; two grandchildren: Donna Coonce of Charleston, Ill., and Donnie Coonce of Paris; two great-grandchildren: Brianna Coonce of Paris, and Bryant Coonce of Sidell, Ill.; one great-great-grandson, Ayden Scott Noonan of Paris; one sister, Bonnie Koontz of Glenview, Ill.; one cousin, Anna Manger of Carriere, Miss.; two special friends: Julia Miller of Charleston and Rory Steidl of Lerna, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Max Wilson of Paris; four sisters-in-law: Daisy Whittenberg of Canyon, Texas, Maxine Riley of Wewoka, Okla., Helen Payne of Paris, Barbara Wilson of Terre Haute, and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Scott Wilson, her sister, Winifred Rhoads, and her brothers, Frank Payne and Scott Payne.

Private graveside services will be today, Jan. 3, 2013, in Edgar Cemetery, with Pastor David Laborde officiating. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is private. Memorials may be made to Community Bible Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
