Floyd H. Haumesser

CASEY, Ill. — Floyd H. Haumesser, 84, of Casey, passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, in Coles County. He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Carlyle, Ill., the son of Frederick Henry Haumesser and Esther Agnes Brewer Haumesser. On Oct. 31, 1948, he married Marjorie R. Rogers, in Olney.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Haumesser; sons, Floyd William “Sonny” Haumesser and wife Phyllis of Terre Haute, Ind., and Brad Haumesser and wife Judy of Fulton, Miss.; daughters, Pam Sellers and husband Tom of Cape Coral, Fla., Judy Covault of Casey, and Rhonda Davis and husband Jeff of Villa Grove; sisters, Mable Ryker of Noble, Millie Cunningham of Seattle, and Loretta Pinkston and husband Jim of Bridgeview; brother, Fred Haumesser and wife Teresa of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lavern Haumesser; and grandson, Ryan Stone.

Floyd was retired after 33 years as the owner of Haumesser Furniture Store, in Casey, he later worked for Scott’s Building Center in Greenup for 10 years.  He was a Casey City Councilman for many years. Floyd was a member of Casey First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of Casey Masonic Lodge 442; Casey Airport Board and Boosters; the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and Casey Lions Club.  

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. CDT Friday, March 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, with Brothers Sonny Haumesser, Brad Haumesser, Tom Marsh and Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Crest Haven Memorial Park, in Claremont. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., in Casey, with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. by the Lodge 442. Memorial donations may be made to the Casey First Baptist Church Building Fund (Soundproofing Fellowship Hall), P.O.
