TERRE HAUTE — Barbara Gayle Kirk, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013. She was born on Oct. 4, 1927, to C. Weir and Etta Zimmerman Kirk.

Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Carleton Sander Kirk, Weir Richard Kirk, and David “Dave” Juergen Kirk; sisters-in-law, Hazel Hodson Kirk and Marvel Dixon Kirk; and nephew, Michael Kirk. She is survived by her brother, Robert Wayne Kirk of Morton, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Crawford Elementary, Immanuel Lutheran School, Otter Creek High School and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College. She retired from Columbia Records as executive assistant to the vice president of operations. She was active in Community Theatre, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, ISU Alumni Association, Senior Citizens, Women in the Arts, and Indiana Historical Society.

Private burial at a later date will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Spay and Neuter League, 1403 Chestnut St., Terre Haute, IN 47805 or Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S. Fruitridge Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47803.
