Marsha M. Guyer

Brazil — Marsha M. Guyer, 74, of Brazil, passed away July 4, 2012, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.  She was born March 8, 1938, in Bloomington, Ind. the daughter of Lowell Campbell and Myrtle Orman Campbell. She graduated from Brazil High School and continued her education at Indiana State University in the nursing program. Her mother became ill and she quit her schooling to be able to care for her mother and then her grandparents. On June 16, 1957, Marsha was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Guyer. He has been her devoted husband for 55 years.

Marsha worked for the Clay Community School Corporation as a cook at Forest Park School for over 35 years. Following retirement, she and Dick enjoyed greeting the children from the LEAAP Center with freshly made cookies and even hosted an Easter egg hunt for the children at their home.  She enjoyed helping others and being in the background planning special events. She and Dick were members of the First Baptist Church in the past and are currently members of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Among her interests were looking for antiques, traveling to see Southern Gospel groups, reading, square dancing, baking and playing the piano. Marsha has always loved having a cat as part of the family and “Tiger” has been her special cat for the past several years. She also had a true love for music.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Dick Guyer of Brazil; daughter, Deena Rennier and son Steven Guyer (Sherry) all of Olney, Ill.; three grandchildren, Ryan, Kristy, and Shawn (Jennifer); two great-grandchildren, Owen and Xavier; several cousins, extended family and a host of friends.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastors George Hewitt and Gary Bechtal officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and again Saturday prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the LEAAP Center in her memory. Light a candle in her memory at:
