Madelyn M. O’Neal, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in St. Francisville, Ill., on Aug. 8, 1921, to George Duby and Elsie May Clark Duby. She was married to Charles Loren O’Neal on April 20, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by her son Gary W. O’Neal and his wife Suellen. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Merilee O’Neal, Melanie O’Neal Seifert and husband Mark, Misty Dawn Townsend and husband David, Brian K. O’Neal, Lori L. Higginbotham and husband Curt, and Pamela Ellis; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death was one son, Loren L. O’Neal, and one great-granddaughter, Colleen Seifert.
Her memberships include a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 43, where she also served as worthy matron, Sugar Grove Home Economics Club for longer than 60 years and was a charter member, as well as enjoying bowling, crocheting, knitting and stitching.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Mondayin DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Online condolences may be left at: www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
