Lloyd Leon ‘Pete’ Witt

TERRE HAUTE — Lloyd Leon “Pete” Witt, 86, passed away Monday Aug. 27, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an accident. He was born June 2, 1926, in Vigo County to Opha and Emma Farrand Witt-Danhour. Pete graduated from Staunton High School in 1944, and later worked for Thiokol Chemical Company on the Minute Man Missile and Twigg Industrial. He was multitalented. He was an outdoorsman, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed history and storytelling.

Pete was preceded in death by his baby brother, Paul Opha Witt.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley McGranahan Witt of Brazil; special cousin, Dale (Vicki) Burkitt of Terre Haute; special friends, Mike and Molly Ellingsworth of West Terre Haute and their children, Emily, Casey, Peter and Brandy and nieces, nephews, and other close extended family.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Moore Funeral Home in Brazil. Burial will be at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association or the Clay County Historical Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at: www.moorefuneralhomes.com
