Goldie Marie Counterman, was born into heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at her son Jim’s home, in Terre Haute, at the age of 95. Goldie was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Terre Haute, the daughter of the late George W. and Addie Mae (Yeager) Rogers. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, James H. Counterman on April 26, 1935. He preceded her in death in December of 1984.
Goldie had a deep love for her Lord and her family. She will forever be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, who was kind to everyone. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking, baking and hunting mushrooms.
She is survived by her daughter, Addie Davern of Terre Haute; son, James J. Counterman and wife Barbara of Terre Haute; sister, Helen Shepherd and husband Harry II, of Terre Haute; brother, Harry F. Rogers of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Dolores Counterman of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert Davern Jr., Penny Wilson and husband Steve, Eric Counterman and wife Penny, Brian Counterman Sr. and wife Paula, all of Terre Haute, and Joseph Davern and wife Cindy of Dallas. Goldie was the loving and devoted great-grandmother of eight, and great-great-grandmother of 11, with one on the way. She also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was welcomed home to heaven by her son, Thomas L. Counterman; her brothers, George E. Rogers and Clarence Rogers; and her sisters, Agnes Reynolds and Dorothy Peters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. ,and again on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, from 10 a.m. until the time of Goldie’s funeral ceremony at 11 a.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
