TERRE HAUTE — James O. Eversole, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Meadows Manor East. James was a self-employed mechanic for 70 years and enjoyed being around people. He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Vigo County, to Charles Eversole and Minnie (Larimer) Eversole.

James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria (Scott) Eversole; a son, John Eversole and his wife Nancy of Brazil; two daughters, Mary Oprisu and her husband Steve of Clayton, Ind., and Nancy Inbody and her husband Roger of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Steve Oprisu, Tracy Ferguson, Valarie Jacobsen, Cristina Allen, Sarah Inbody, and David Inbody; six great-grandchildren, Steve Oprisu, Sarah Oprisu, Stephanie Thrasher, Michael Eytcheson, Grace Jacobsen, and Alex Ferguson; a niece, Hila Jean Heighway; and a nephew, James Marion Eversole. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Alan Eversole; and a brother, Earl Eversole.

James was a 1939 graduate of Glenn High School, was a long-time member of the Terre Haute Symphony and the United States Air Force Museum. He has always had a fascination with airplanes and has been a pilot since the early 1940s. He also was a long-time member and a Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force. James also was known as the “Goto Guy” for vintage automobile repair.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. Funeral services will be on Wednesday Aug. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
