John (J.P.) Eugene Paul Jr., 56, of Terre Haute, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been a dishwasher for Holiday Inn. He was born January 15, 1956 in Terre Haute to John Eugene Paul, Sr. and Kathryn Louise Vanhook Paul.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Rhuebottom Paul of Terre Haute; a son, Johnny E. Paul III and his wife Angela of Terre Haute; four daughters, Kristiana Hickenbotham and her husband Mathew, Becky Paul, Martha Paul and her companion Scott Lewis and Evelyn Paul all of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Michael Lewis, Jacob Lewis, Nicholas Hickenbotham, Heaven Paul, Kylie Hooks, Jeffery Hooks, Jr., Rebecca Hooks and Michaela Hooks; three brothers, Wayne Paul, Michael Paul and Ellsworth Paul; eight sisters, Charlotte Haworth and her husband Melvin, his twin Joyce Christy and her husband Darrell, Bonnie Hooper, Mary Salesman and her husband Roy, Terry Paul, Becky Payton and her husband Gary, Sharon Moeller and Cindy Paul; two brothers-in-law, T. W. Rhuebottom and Johnny Rhuebottom; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was an avid fisherman, hunter and mushroom hunter. He also enjoyed tinkering with bicycles, scooters, lawn mowers, cars and working at dog shows at the fairgrounds.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 17, 2012, in Highland Lawn Cemetery Chapel with Pastor James s officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with ongoing expenses.
