MARSHALL, Ill. —
Betty Jane Hackney, 80, of Marshall, passed away 8:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall. She was born Aug. 9, 1932, at Greeley, Colo., the daughter of Jess Coffman and Lerady Womsly Coffman. She married Donald Hackney on Feb. 19, 1949 at Greeley.
Surviving are her husband, Donald; a son, Robert Dale (Vera) Hackney of Marshall; two granddaughters, Amber (Luke) Whitkanack of Marshall, and Ashley (Jake) Montgomery of Norma, Ill.; a sister, Shirley Zeman of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Mervin Coffman, Kenneth Coffman, Jesse Coffman, and Roy Gillespie; and two sisters, Mildred Stone and Hazel Gillespie.
She was a member of the Marshall Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She loved gardening, growing flowers and birds.
Auxiliary members of the VFW Auxiliary of Marshall will conduct memorial services at 2 p.m. CST Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, with services in honor of her life with the Rev. David Deal officiating immediately following. Burial will be in Clarksville Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Place of Burnsides Community Health Center.
