TERRE HAUTE —
Charles E. “Ed” Johnson, 69, of Terre Haute, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. He was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Uniontown, Ky., to James “J.D.” Johnson and Sue O’Leary Johnson.
Ed served in the United States Army in Korea. He worked as a general manager for Kmart for many years. He also worked as a general manager for Phar-Mor and Jeffery Alans. Ed was a member of American Legion 2 in Brazil. He loved golf, wood working and fishing. His career was very important to him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two sons, Darrin Johnson and his wife Beth of Texas, and Duane Johnson of Indianapolis; and three daughters, Denise Johnson Trout of Pendleton, and Jodi Johnson Sheere and her husband David and Jill Johnson, all of Terre Haute. Ed also is survived by a brother, Jerry Johnson and his wife Donna of Henderson, Ky.; sister, Vicki Chinn and her husband Ronnie of Henderson; grandchildren, Natalie Sheere, Ronnie Trout, Amber Johnson, Steven Johnson and Nicholas; great-grandchild, Ryan Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th St., in Terre Haute, with a gathering of friends from 4 p.m. until service time. Online condolences may be made at:
