Nancy C. Harris Streacker

TERRE HAUTE —

Nancy C. Harris Streacker, age 73, of Terre Haute, our beloved wife, mother, and Nanny went home to be with our Lord and Creator on the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Union Hospital.

Nancy was born in Boonville, Ind., on Aug. 20, 1939, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Hart) Thompson. She would later go on to marry Richard “Noel” Streacker on July 11, 1987. As an extremely hardworking woman, Nancy worked for Boonville Oil Company, Boot City Outlet in Terre Haute, and Kadel’s Hallmark in North Plaza. She was a dedicated woman of the Lord, and was a faithful member of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. Nancy really loved her little girl Carmen and also enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping and collecting knick knacks of all sorts. But most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest pleasure. Her warm-hearted, compassionate and caring demeanor will live on in the hearts of those she touched for generations to come.

Nancy leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Richard “Noel” Streacker; mother, Helen Thompson; children, William H. (Carla Switzer) Streacker, Scott (Pam Noble) Harris, Joe (Denise) Streacker, Brian Harris, Sara (Craig Smith) Ruffner, Rich Streacker, and Robert (Estela) Streacker. Nancy was the proud and loving Nanny of 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother, David (Janet) Thompson; her sister, Tanya (Don) Atkins; along with several loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Nancy was welcomed home to heaven by her daughter, Beth Ann Barnett; and her father Edward Thompson.

Visitation will be today, Oct. 9, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. until Nancy’s funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., in Terre Haute. Pastor Dick Smith will officiate with entombment to follow in Roselawn’s Chapel of Memories. Memorial contributions in memory of Nancy may be directed to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at:
