Edna P. Atkinson

MONTEZUMA — Edna P. Atkinson, 83, of Montezuma, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in her residence. She was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in Bruceville, Ind., to Leo Jones and Ilene Patterson Jones. She had worked at the Montezuma School in the cafeteria. She was a member of Independent Baptist Church in Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Atkinson; a son, Harold Atkinson; a daughter, Patty Jean Hamke; a grandson, Brett Hamke; a great-grandson, Brock Sanders; three brothers, Leo Jones, George Jones, and Matthew Jones; and a sister, Mary McFall.

She is survived by her children, Leon Atkinson (Victoria) of Montezuma, George Hamke (Debbie) of Montezuma, Pat Tarwacki (Mike) of North Liberty, Joe Atkinson (Barbara) of Montezuma, Gary Hamke (Judith) of Clinton, Kay Morris (Joe) of Terre Haute, Libby Atkinson of Peru, and Lisa Kneeland (Randy) of Rosedale; three brothers, Charles Jones (Karen) of Knightsville, and Jim Jones (Regina) and John Jones, all of Citrus Springs, Fla.; two sisters; Lucille Roach of Citrus Springs and Jane Demaster (Bill) of Brownsburg; a sister-in-law, Betty Jones of LaGrange, Ga.; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Independent Baptist  Church in Montezuma and 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with services to be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund for Independent Baptist Church. Brown-Mack Funeral Home, in Montezuma, is handling the arrangements.
